I was so moved to read some of the stories and comments on this page. Keep them coming as I am a new member to PVA. What a wonderful group, so many interesting things to learn about what we all experience. My heart goes out to the 'ex' children and wives. Its just so wrong, when there is a direct causal link [I am sure] between the war zone conflict and the vets inability to cope when they return. Keep the stories coming.

So glad to find this site - I'll be joining! After 16 years of walking on egg shells I've had to call it a day with my vet partner. My heart is broken, I'm drained, work full time, raise our kids & find out when we get divorced I'm entitled to nothing! But worse still - if my partner finds someone else - she'll get all the support!

In response to Mel querying whether there is any support groups in the Mandurah
Rockingham area. There is. You can ring PVAWA on 9228 3350 for an information package. And, yes there are people who understand.

Hi. This is the first time for me on the web site. I am the eldest of 4 siblings whose father served in Vietnam in 1965 to 1966. My mum and dad divorced in early 80's. He remarried later and the 2nd wife got the lot. MEDALS and all. I still to this day cannot understand why my mum got nothing. She was there from day one when he signed up and they were still married when he was discharged. At the funeral I was utterly discusted, because mum was not acknowlegded. Could someone please explain why we are the forgotten children. I was 7 when dad left for vietnam and I can still remeber the day, plus the 12months in between and the moment when he came home.

Thanks to all who signed guest book on our Inaugural Meeting, we are going from strengh to strengh - from 4 members in May 2007 to 27 In December07 As president, this is very encouraging and we are endeavouring to bring to the South coast courses for our members and partners not usually brought to the 'bush' - we are in the process of accessing a Cooking for one or two course and have been instrumental in achieving a 'Heart Health Program" which commenced in Early November 2007 and runs for 40 weeks. They guys that are attending call it the Geriatric Gym and we as partners are allowed to attend the twice weekly sessions for a small cost of $5 each sessions so it is great. I could only get my Vet to go, if I went too. We are both beginning to feel the benefits of the keep fit program and if we loose weight over the next 30 weeks, we will be more than happy. But being more fit, steadier on our feet and flixible my Husband had a lot of issues with falling over due to instability and he is improving and it is great to meet up with the 14 - 17 vets and about 8 partners each week. Sometime there is too much talking, but I suppose the exercise of the face/jaw is just a important too. Cheers to all, Lynne Rolfe President, Shoalhaven Nowra NSW Sub Branch.

I was delighted to find your group on a bit of paper in my VVCS files! After 24 years of marriage and six kids, my vet ran from the conflict we were experiencing. We were babes in the woodand knew nothing about PTSD. He has remarried and experiencing difficulties again. I agree with previous guest who said how unfair it is that ex wives lose all their entitlements. We did the hard yards. we should be entitled to compensation in some shape or form, yes?
