With the election of the Labor Government on 24 November 2007 and the subsequent passage of a change in legislation, War Widows under 58 Years are now eligible to apply for the Income Supprt Supplement ( ISS) to help them make ends meet.
This is a wonderful step in the right direction for those younger War Widows who have had to survive on the War Widows compensation payment alone. Those younger War Widows who are eligible to receive the Income Support Supplement will now also be eligible to receive a Pension Concession Card as well.
P.V.A. have fought at national level to correct this injustice for 6 years and are extremely happy with the outcome.
A Labor Government delivers on promise that Discrimination against War Widows under 58 years is now a thing of the past!
